Marlon’s Musings #28Most people remember Paul’s imprisonment. Fewer remember that before he reached Rome, he endured a shipwreck, a venomous snake bite, years of waiting, and countless setbacks. Yet when we read Acts 28, we don’t find a defeated man. We find someone who understood that following Jesus is not about living a comfortable life—it’s about living a meaningful one. For our Vacation Bible School closing program, I wrote a creative monologue that imagines what it might have been like to sit in Paul’s rented house in Rome and hear him reflect on the events that brought him there. The monologue follows the biblical account while inviting us to wrestle with questions we still ask today: • Why does God sometimes allow faithful people to suffer?
• Can God still use us when our lives don’t go according to plan?
• How do we remain faithful when we’re waiting for God to fulfill His promises? Paul’s answer is both challenging and encouraging: our circumstances may limit us, but they do not have to define our mission.
