Lazarus had risen from the dead. The evidence was impossible to ignore. Yet not everyone who witnessed the miracle chose to follow Jesus.

Why?

Sometimes the greatest obstacle to faith is not a lack of evidence. Sometimes it is fear of what following Jesus might cost us.

In case you missed my first two posts on John 11, here they are.

Part 1 - In “Why Did Jesus Let Lazarus Die?”, I explore one of the most difficult questions in John 11: If Jesus loved Lazarus, why didn’t He come sooner? The story reveals that God’s apparent delay is not evidence of His absence or lack of love. Through Jesus’ response to Lazarus’s death—and especially the moment when Jesus wept—we discover a Savior who has power over death and compassion for those who suffer.

Part 2 - In “When God Asks You to Move the Stone: Lessons from Lazarus,” I explore what the story of Lazarus teaches us about faith, obedience, and trusting Jesus when we cannot control the outcome. When Jesus told those at Lazarus’s tomb to move the stone, He asked them to do what they could while leaving the impossible to Him. The post challenges us to stop waiting for God to do what He has already placed within our responsibility and instead to faithfully take the next step while trusting Jesus with what only He can accomplish.
