Hi.

Welcome to my blog. Here I share my thoughts on what matters to me.

Talents Mini-Series - Part 1

Have you ever wondered about the practical implications of the Jesus’ parable of the talents?

Should we be concerned about what we do with the gifts God has given us?

I have been thinking about doing shorter devotional posts for a while. I wanted to provide you with something shorter, but meaningful. So here is part one of my new devotional mini-series meant to supplement your spiritual growth.

On the audio for this post I discuss chapter 25 of the book Christ’s Object Lessons by Ellen White. The book Christ’s Object Lessons focuses on the parables Jesus told and chapter 25 is about the parable of the talents as found in Matthew 25:13-30.

I really recommend you listen to the audio where I discuss some of my favorite portions of this chapter including:

  • “Learning, talents, eloquence, every natural or acquired endowment, may be possessed; but without the presence of the Spirit of God, no heart will be touched, no sinner be won to Christ. On the other hand, if they are connected with Christ, if the gifts of the Spirit are theirs, the poorest and most ignorant of His disciples will have a power that will tell upon hearts. God makes them the channel for the outworking of the highest influence in the universe.” (p 328)

  • “Never should we lower the standard of righteousness in order to accommodate inherited or cultivated tendencies to wrong-doing.” (330)

  • “A noble, all-round character is not inherited. It does not come to us by accident. A noble character is earned by individual effort through the merits and grace of Christ.” (331)

and my favorite quote from this portion of the chapter

As the will of man co-operates with the will of God, it becomes omnipotent. Whatever is to be done at His command may be accomplished in His strength. All His biddings are enablings.

(Christ’s Object Lessons p333)

I hope you have found this short post beneficial. Please listen to the audio and comment below your thoughts.
