Go, make disciples
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
- Matthew 28:18-20 NKJV
I find myself re-reading this verse often. These final words from Jesus are known as the Great Commission. This is the mission that Jesus gave all His followers. This is my mission and it is your mission. This is why we go to church, this is why the church exists. The church exists for the sake of the mission, the mission is to make disciples. Disciples are made as we live our lives in a close and loving relationship with Jesus. Jesus causes us to reflect His love and others come to know Him through their interactions with us.
I am excited about transitioning back to our church building, it looks absolutely beautiful! But even more than how beautiful it all looks (and it’s gorgeous!) and how amazing our lights and sound are in the sanctuary (and they are amazing!) I am most excited about all the possibilities for mission. I hope you will join us not just by being present, but by being willing to be involved in sharing Jesus with others. I know Jesus is calling you to make disciples, the question is how will you choose to be involved? Please let me know, I would love to help you live out the mission God has called you to.
